Equal Voice Campaign

Equal Voice Campaign

VOICES for Alabama's Children is pleased to join the Marguerite Casey Foundation and its grantees, in a national campaign that highlights the needs of working families. This movement is about giving voice to working families in Alabama and throughout the country. As a result, families and communities will be strengthened, both of which are essential to the well-being of children.

On April 5, 2008 VOICES, the Marguerite Casey Foundation and it grantees, helped unite more than 300 working families throughout the state to discuss candidly, the concerns and issues that plague their families and communities on a daily basis. Those in attendance rated access to health care and education as top priorities for government action.

On September 6, 2008 these participants, along with thousands more, will gather in Birmingham, Alabama to once again celebrate the voice of families and partake in the unveiling of a National Platform for America’s Families.

We are embarking on a journey to better the lives of America’s families and no voice should go unheard… Speak Out for Families!

Register by July 30 for the National Equal Voice Convention and:

  • Be a voice for your family… Share your stories with other families from around the southeast and connect with thousands more across the nation through live satellite feeds.
  • Partake in the unveiling of the National Platform for America’s Families and celebrate the voice of families across the nation. This platform is written by families and will send a powerful message to Presidential candidates and other government leaders that the time for change is now!
  • Share and develop ideas on how to more effectively mobilize in your community.
  • Participate in a large exhibit hall, where you can get information about the issues that matter to you and your family.
  • Set up an exhibit of your organization’s work.
  • Compare notes with families and organizations from different parts of the country; celebrate our common cause.

This spectacular event will be held at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center (BJCC) in Birmingham, AL and will include live satellite feeds from other states. Other venues include Los Angeles and Chicago.

The deadline is quickly approaching! Register by July 30 to be a part of this multi-city convention!!
